Man breaks into bank … to use microwave

The greater the risk, the greater the reward.

Break into a broom cupboard and fill your boots with spring cleaning necessaries. Break into a bank and … fix yourself a hot snack.

At least that was the criminal logic running through one plucky gentleman’s mind in southern California this week.

And the best thing? He’s about as regretful as Édith Piaf, even though the risky culinary operation backfired.

The man, who is yet to be identified, was arrested early Wednesday after allegedly breaking into a branch of Wells Fargo in San Diego to use its cooking facilities.

Police arrived at the bank at around 3.30 a.m. after a burglar alarm was triggered to find a shattered window near its drive-thru.

Surveillance cameras inside showed a man in the staff break room making use of the microwave, the alarm company told police.

Police eventually broke through the bank’s front doors an hour later and found the man inside – but not before he’d got what he came for.

As officers arrested him and hauled him outside, the man explained to gathered reporters that he’d busted into the bank to microwave his Hot Pockets, KGTV News reported.

When asked whether the warmed-up snack was worth the trouble, he replied: “Hell yeah it was worth it!”

They’re called Hot Pockets for a reason, we guess.
