Here at Crazy America we don’t cover the machinations of party politics.
But when the national political contest seems to motivate crazy behavior among everyday folks we just can’t ignore it.
With little more than seventy days to go until Big Bad Joe Biden faces off against the Orange Man in November’s presidential election, things are heating up nicely across the country.
That is particularly true of the yard sign battles that are brewing in many places.
In one Central Florida neighborhood, however, passion for competing candidates has already ended in fisticuffs.
A dispute over the placement of election yard signs led to a man punching his neighbor in the face, according to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office.
Police said the incident happened last week when the man, Anthony Vullo, took his neighbor’s campaign sign and threw it across the yard. According to local station Fox35, Vullo removed a sign promoting Democrat nominee Biden.
The Biden supporter then confronted Vullo about why he threw his campaign sign and Vullo said he was upset that the man had placed the sign in a way that blocked his own sign, according to a court affidavit.
During the confrontation, deputies said Vullo pushed his 48-year-old neighbor, then his neighbor pushed him back. Then Vullo punched his neighbor on the left side of his face.
Vullo admitted to authorities that he was upset about the victim’s sign blocking his own sign, so he “tossed” it, according to the court documents.
Though a witness backed the victim’s account of Vullo pushing the victim first and punching the victim, Vullo said the victim pushed him first and that he only punched him because the victim swung first but missed, the documents noted.
Deputies said the victim had obvious signs of injury by his left eye but he declined medical attention.
Vullo, 55, was arrested on a battery charge.
It is not clear yet which candidate Vullo was supporting. However, it may be reasonable to presume at this point that it could be a certain former reality TV star with an orangey tint to his skin!
