While many shoppers like to try before they buy, not all potential purchases suit this approach.
Certainly, it’s to be hoped that a Florida woman caught using a sex toy in an adult store was at least planning to pay for the handy item.
Theresa Stanley, 36, was arrested last week after she allegedly took a sex toy off a shelf at an adult novelty store in Fort Pierce, removed her clothes and tested the product there and then inside the business.
A cop responded to the Lion’s Den Adult Superstore around 7.20pm on August 31st following a 911 report of a “disturbance” involving “a female in the store wearing a purple shirt and … no pants,” according to an arrest affidavit obtained by The Smoking Gun.
The officer was met by a store clerk who told him that the woman, later identified as Stanley, had unpackaged a pink sex toy, stripped “fully nude” and disappeared into the stock room, the affidavit states.
“As I opened the doors and entered the stock room I found the female … sitting in an office chair with her feet up on a table,” the officer wrote in the report. “She had in her hand a pink colored, penis shaped sex toy that she was using in a masturbatory manner.”
As soon as the cop appeared, Stanley “stopped making use of the sex toy and dropped it on the ground,” according to the document.
A store worker informed the officer that Stanley had also opened and tried on an item of clothing.
The stolen items – the now second-hand sex toy and the unspecified garment – cost $45.98 in total.
Stanley was arrested and booked into the St Lucie County Jail on charges of theft and indecent exposure, both misdemeanors.
She was arraigned on the charges yesterday morning, after which she remained in jail on $1,500 bond.
Stanley has a lengthy rap sheet, including convictions for soliciting prostitution and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was arrested earlier this year on a grand theft auto charge in a case that is still pending.
