Doctor sued over alleged affair with patient’s wife

It may have been just what the doctor ordered – but try telling that to this particular patient.

An Oregon man turned to his doctor for help after his marriage hit the rocks, only to learn that the caring family physician was having an affair with his wife, according to a new lawsuit.

The patient, 47-year-old Pierson Tone, is now seeking $2.9 million from Dr. Ronald Rosen, a longtime physician in Bend, Oregon, in a lawsuit alleging professional negligence, The Bulletin of Bend reported.

“As a result of (Rosen’s) conduct, plaintiff sustained emotional distress including … the loss of his marriage and emotional and social destruction of his family,” claims the suit, filed Monday in Deschutes County Circuit Court.

Tone, a songwriter and Merrill Lynch financial advisor — and grandson of Hollywood actor Franchot Tone — alleges that the doctor started seeing his wife at some point between 2015 and 2018, when the couple and their two children were patients of Rosen’s clinic.

In November 2018, a troubled Tone went to consult Rosen about his depression, which he said was caused by the stress of his marriage breaking down.

Rosen advised Tone on how to repair the relationship, prescribing him marijuana and CBD, as well as herbs and breathing techniques, the suit states.

After the visit, Tone learned that Rosen had been involved with his wife for an “extended” period of time, and the couple later divorced, according to the complaint.

Rosen has been licensed to practice medicine in Oregon since 1991; he also offers a range of holistic alternatives and is a “certified laughter yoga leader.”

According to his website bio, he is married with two daughters, and an avid practitioner of yoga and Tai chi.

Rosen did not return messages left at his office and Tone’s attorney, James D. Huegli, also declined to comment, The Bulletin reported.
