Our mission is to chronicle that which is striking or shocking in everyday interactions, to document the odd but authentic and, in doing that, to capture the essence of the human condition across America.
We offer news that others can’t or won’t cover. And we also offer storytelling guided by that news.
Our fiction writers craft gripping stories, exploring crime, punishment, and the human experience in 21st Century America in vivid detail. Each story reimagines events, offering fresh perspectives on contemporary American life. However, while they may be inspired by real events, all stories on this part of the website are works of fiction and not direct retellings of news stories.
