Incredibly, a bride walked in on her groom-to-be sexually assaulting a ‘drunk’ bridesmaid two days before the wedding – and still married him.
Daniel Carney, 28, of Stroudsburg, has been charged with involuntary deviate sexual intercourse of an unconscious person and indecent assault.
The victim, a 29-year-old Oregon woman, said she was sexually assaulted at the Shawnee Inn in Smithfield Township, Pennsylvania on August 30.
The woman was in Smithfield to be a bridesmaid at Carney’s September 1 wedding. She told police that the assault occurred in a downstairs men’s locker room.
The victim said that she consumed a large quantity of alcohol and eventually passed out. When she woke up, she told authorities that she found herself in the men’s locker room with Carney fondling her and her bikini bottom removed.
And, just moments later, Carney’s bride-to-be walked in to the room and apparently saw everything.
Not surprisingly, that led to a fight between the bride-to-be and Carney.
Investigators corroborated the victim’s story by reviewing surveillance footage that shows Carney pulling the victim into the locker room. Despite it all, Carney and the bride-to-be got married on September 1.
