A Wisconsin woman took “cutting costs” too literally when a wedding venue dispute ended with her fiancé bleeding from the neck.
For one Wisconsin couple, wedding planning turned into a crime scene after an argument over the venue spiraled into a knife attack, authorities say.
Kailee Brantner, 22, of Brookfield, allegedly lost her temper after a text spat with her future mother-in-law over whether the couple should host their big day at home, according to Fox 6. Her fiancé, who remains unnamed, woke up to messages that quickly ignited a fight—one that ended with him clutching a towel to his bleeding neck.
According to the complaint, Brantner kicked things off with an unprovoked attack when her fiancé returned home early from work. He managed to push her away, but she wasn’t done. She followed him into the kitchen, grabbed a knife, and escalated things from “heated argument” to “attempted stabbing.”
The victim, trying to retreat to the basement, soon found himself pursued by Brantner, now fully committed to the role of knife-wielding attacker. She swung at him multiple times, landing two slashes to his neck. Bleeding and forced to his knees, he somehow managed to survive until Brookfield detectives arrived. They found him pressing a towel to his wounds—courtesy of Brantner herself, who was found casually sitting on the couch.
Police later recovered the bloodied, pink-handled knife from the kitchen. Brantner now faces a charge of first-degree reckless injury and is due back in court on February 13.
As for the wedding venue? Safe to say, it’s no longer a priority.
