Florida police have apprehended a suspect in the murder of a 14-year-old boy who was found dead after going for a bike ride two weeks ago.
The suspect was arrested in Miami in connection with the killing of Ryan Rogers, Palm Beach County authorities confirmed Wednesday night to Local 10 News.
Rogers was reported missing in Palm Beach Gardens on November 15 when he failed to return from an early evening bike ride.
The teen’s body was discovered the next day on the city’s Central Boulevard, near the Interstate 95 overpass, just minutes away from his home, according to the Palm Beach Post.
Investigators later announced that they were treating Rogers’ death as a homicide by a “deliberate act,” ruling out the possibility that he had been fatally struck by a car.
No further information about the arrest was released. Police are scheduled to hold a press conference at 10 a.m. today to provide more details on the latest development in the case.
