Coughing cop accused of deliberately trying to infect poor folks in the projects

Baltimore police launch investigation into sergeant caught on video getting too close to residents.

As we have reported here at Crazy America in recent weeks, coronavirus coughers, covid-19 sprayers and a whole array of other pandemic-impaired loons have used the crisis to commit despicable acts.

But a case out of Baltimore could rank as one of the most disturbing yet seen. Although we don’t know for sure yet what was going on, the optics are certainly terrible.

What we do know is that the city’s police department has launched an investigation after one of its officers was seen in a social media video appearing to cough on residents in a low income housing complex.

The Instagram video shows the officer, a sergeant, repeatedly coughing as he passes by a group of people at the public housing development.

A woman filming calls out to the officer. As he walks past the woman, the officer coughs several times without covering his mouth.

She continues to film as the officer, who is white, coughs again as he passes several more people. The woman filming yells to the officer that she isn’t worried because black people don’t get the coronavirus.

“Cough yo white a– back where you live at,” the woman filming says to the officer. Other residents then criticise the officer for coughing.

“I should call the CDC on his a– and let them know he just did some dirty a– s— like that,” the woman filming says. “You ain’t going to infect nobody but your co-workers.”

Kobi Little, president of the Baltimore city NAACP branch, called the officer’s actions disturbing.

“This officer must immediately be pulled from contact with the public and subsequently held accountable for his actions,” Little said in a statement. “This incident is emblematic of the Force’s failure to respect and build trust with the people of Baltimore.”

The incident happened at the Perkins Homes public housing complex in the southeast part of the city, the Baltimore Sun reported.

The belief that African Americans are less affected by the coronavirus was undermined earlier this week by new figures from Chicago, which showed that the city’s black population constituted the overwhelming majority of fatalities despite accounting for around 30% of the population.

Moreover, Dr. Anthony Fauci, the Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, also expressed concern at a White House briefing on April 7th that the virus was hitting the African American community disproportionately.
