Couple finds pepperoni swastika on their takeaway pizza

Employees at Ohio branch of Little Caesars fired after pair open takeout box back home to discover pizza topping arranged as the Nazi symbol.

Creativity can be a great thing in any kitchen – but there are some presentational experiments that simply shouldn’t be shared.

Certainly, an Ohio couple were less than impressed to find the topping on their takeaway pizza had taken on an unusual arrangement – that of a swastika.

Jason Laska told WJW-TV that he picked up the troublingly configured pie Saturday night from a Little Caesars shop in Brook Park and brought it home.

“[My wife] turned and asked me ‘Babe, did you order this, did they make it for you?’ And I turned around and looked at it and I could see the shock on her face and then my jaw just dropped,” he said.

The alarmed couple called the pizza joint to find that it had just closed, but the manager responded to their complaint the following day.

“[The employees] told him that it was supposed to be an internal joke that they were playing on each other and the other employee, and the pizza was never intended to go out,” Laska told the outlet. “He also confirmed that he had let the employees go that morning.”

The Laksas had been frequent visitors to the pizza joint, which is near their home, but now say they will never return there or visit any other branch of Little Caesars again.

“It’s unacceptable and in our minds we are just never going to go back there,” Laksa said.

“We are the type of people that support the diversity in our country. We embrace and love it. We just want to see this hate stop,” his wife, Misty, added.

Little Caesars confirmed in a statement that the employees involved had been fired over the distasteful incident.

“We have zero tolerance for racism and discrimination in any form, and these franchise store employees were immediately terminated,” a spokesperson for the pizza chain said. “We’re deeply disappointed that this happened, as this conduct is completely against our values.”
