Wisconsin teen quits job at chain after alleged assault by female customer who waited 8 minutes for order.
Today’s culture of convenience and instant gratification can make even the most minor of delays hard to swallow.
But that’s really no excuse for one impatient Wisconsin gourmand whose horrifying behavior just goes to show that the customer isn’t always right.
A 17-year-old known as Serena has quit her job at a McDonald’s in Greenfield, Wisconsin, after being knocked to the floor by a female customer who was furious at waiting longer than expected for her food.
The alleged assault, which took place on December 27, was captured on cell phone video obtained by Greenfield police.
The woman became livid after waiting around 8 minutes for her food and complained that it was “taking them too long to cook the bacon,” according to Serena’s account.
The two then had a heated exchange of words that ended with the customer walking behind the counter to carry out the alleged physical assault.
Rachel Howell, the victim’s mother, told Fox 6 that the “hangry” assailant “grabbed my daughter and punched her in the face, the back of the head, and then slammed her down on the ground.”
“I was scared because it happened so quickly,” Serena said.
The customer fled the scene before officers arrived, while a man she was with obtained a refund for food not received. Neither has yet been located by police.
Serena has since quit her job over the attack, though it turns out things could have been worse. Howell revealed that Serena suffers from epilepsy and thinks the attack could easily have triggered a seizure.
“It’s scary. She really could have hurt my daughter,” Howell said.
The McDonald’s franchise owner, Dion Conn, who is cooperating with law enforcement, stated that “the safety and security of my employees and customers is a top priority.”
However, no mention was made of plans to speed up bacon cooking times.
