Colorado sicko allegedly caught on surveillance video abusing animal inside stall before spotting camera and fleeing.
A Colorado horse owner was aghast last week after a routine evening check of a security camera feed revealed a twisted sight: a man in the stalls allegedly taking the hoofed occupant on the wrong kind of ride.
Authorities in the state are now hunting for the sicko they say was caught on surveillance video having sex with a horse boarded at the La Plata County Fairgrounds in Durango.
The bestial act allegedly took place Thursday around 10 p.m., according to police.
“The caretaker of the horse had a video surveillance camera inside the stall and was watching the act,” the Durango Police Department said in a statement.
The owner managed to capture a grainy screenshot of the suspect, who then realized that his disturbing crime was being recorded for posterity.
“The suspect noticed the video surveillance camera and took it” before making a getaway, police said.
Officers responded quickly to the scene but the man had already vanished.
However, cops found a backpack they believe belongs to him. They also retrieved a jacket and bicycle which may be linked to the unsettling incident.
Photos of the items have been released to the the public as part of the probe.
The male suspect is described as having “long, almost shoulder-length hair that was lighter in color,” police said.
He was wearing a hoodie with a horizontal stripe, a hat, glasses and a mask during the alleged animal abuse, authorities said.
“This case is very concerning based on the sexually deviant behavior of the suspect,” police said.
“We believe there is a public safety concern, and we would like to identify this suspect as soon as possible.”
Anyone with information on the identity of the suspect is being asked to contact Detective Tony Meraz at 970-375-4738.
The incident is also being investigated by La Plata County Animal Protection.
