82-year-old woman accidentally hit gas pedal, plowing vehicle through front window of upstate New York business into cake case.
In a land of drive-thrus, actually having to park up and exit our cars to make a purchase can feel like a bind.
But if you think outside box, there may be ways to avoid expending all that unnecessary energy.
Certainly, an elderly upstate New York woman found an innovative means to take a closer look at the cake selection in her local bakery this week – all from the comfort of her driver’s seat.
Kathryn Ford was caught on video Tuesday crashing her car into Dolce and Biscotti in Clifton Park shortly before 5 p.m., the Albany Times Union reported.
The 82-year-old driver went to apply the brakes but accidentally stepped on the gas pedal instead, plowing her vehicle straight through the front window of the Italian bakery and into the cake case.
Inside, Ford was so rattled that she kept her foot on the gas until Tom Fron, whose wife owns the bakery, ran over to the car and turned off the ignition.
“It was a miracle,” he told the outlet. “I was at the cash register and everyone else was in a separate corners of the bakery.”
“It happened so fast. I heard a crash and she was in the middle of the bakery,” Fron added. “We are blessed. Everything that was damaged can be repaired.”
Video of the epic parking fail shows Ford’s BMW slamming through the bakery’s glass windows and into the kitchen as startled employees run for cover.
Thankfully, Ford was not hurt, and a witness who suffered a minor arm injury was treated by EMS at the scene.
The bakery said on its Facebook page that it will be closed for one to two weeks while the damage is repaired.
