The serenity of a suburban Californian street was disturbed last week by a sight that did nothing for sore eyes.
The gentleman responsible just about had time to make his case for an outside shot at Rear of the Year. However, the troubling display only succeeded in landing him in the doghouse.
An elderly woman first spotted the man, 48-year-old Leroy Vance, prowling outside her home in Sycamore Drive, Fairfield, at around 6pm on Jan. 8. With her 83-year-old husband busy in the garage, she did the sensible thing and dialled 911.
Unfortunately, things were about to get more alarming, according to a report published by Fairfield police.
While the woman was still on the phone to the cops, Vance whipped off his trousers and presented her with an unsolicited view of his bare butt through the window .
“He dropped his drawers and mooned her and was trying to get her outside,” Fred Farrell, the woman’s husband, told KTXL-TV.
In an even more terrifying turn, Vance then actually tried to gain entry to the house.
His first effort via a sliding door proved unsuccessful. It was at that point that Vance decided to think outside the box.
Inspired perhaps by his newly streamlined appearance, he got down on his hands and knees and attempted to crawl through a custom-installed doggy door.
Fortunately, by that stage police were already arriving on the scene. Vance scrambled to get away by jumping over some fences but was soon nabbed by chasing officers a short distance away.
Police later discovered that Vance was in fact a registered sex offender. He had cut off his ankle monitor and was already wanted by parole for a violation of his terms.
Farrell expressed relief that things hadn’t turned out worse. “I thank the big guy that there were no kids around,” he said. He described his wife as “very shaken up” over the incident.
Vance was booked into the Solano County Jail on charges of parole violation, possession of methamphetamine, criminal trespass, and resisting arrest.
