A Louisiana high school principal has been arrested after the mother of a student accused him of groping her during a private meeting.
Hahnville High School Principal Brian Lumar was taken into custody on Monday, the St Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office said.
The woman claims that Lumar touched her in a sexual way without her consent during a meeting in a private office on campus.
The two had arranged to meet on March 31 to discuss an issue concerning the woman’s child, who is a student at the school.
She reportedly told police that she was waiting in a reception area at the school when Lumar arrived and said that they would hold the meeting in a private office, according to NOLA.com.
The alleged incident is said to have occurred that day inside the office, although the woman did not report it until April 26.

Lumar turned himself in Monday after police informed him that there was a warrant for his arrest.
He was booked into the Nelson Coleman Correctional Facility on one count of sexual battery and released later the same day on a $2,500 bond.
Lumar, who has been principal at the high school since fall 2018, described the parent’s allegations as “completely false.”
“And I plan on showing that through the court system,” he told the news site.

The St Charles Parish Public School System issued a statement to NOLA.com confirming that they have been notified of the principal’s arrest.
“The charge does not involve any misconduct with a student or employee. Since this is a personnel matter, no further information will be provided,” the statement read.
“We continue to follow the appropriate policy, procedures, and law regarding this personnel matter.”
