Karaoke Meltdown: Florida Man Fires Gun Over Missing Mic

Denied his moment in the spotlight, a Clearwater man turned a bar parking lot into his own action movie—until police stepped in.

Denied his moment in the spotlight, a Clearwater man turned a bar parking lot into his own action movie—until police stepped in.

Aaron Jablonski really wanted to sing. Unfortunately for everyone at the Overtime Sports Bar, when the karaoke machine failed him, he turned to a different kind of performance—one involving a Glock.

According to Clearwater police, the 34-year-old was at the bar around 2:30 AM Saturday when he discovered that karaoke was a no-go. Rather than accepting the silence, Jablonski stormed outside, clearly not in the mood for a quiet night.

A 26-year-old patron made the questionable decision to try and talk him down. In response, Jablonski allegedly pulled a handgun from his waistband, pointed it at the man, and made his stance crystal clear: “I don’t f***ing care.” According to an arrest affidavit obtained by The Smoking Gun, witnesses say he then fired a round, presumably to underline the point.

The victim—whose Facebook, fittingly, is full of karaoke photos—told police he was convinced Jablonski was about to kill him.

When officers arrived, they found Jablonski still in possession of his illegal 9mm Glock, a problem considering his extensive criminal history. His record includes multiple convictions for battery on law enforcement, DUI, disorderly conduct, theft, and resisting arrest. Unsurprisingly, he is legally barred from owning a firearm.

Jablonski was promptly arrested on felony charges of aggravated assault and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He’s now cooling off in the county jail, with bail set at $40,000.

A judge has since banned him from the Overtime bar and prohibited any contact with the victim—meaning he’ll have to find another stage for his next act.
