Knifepoint kidnapping accomplice caught after two-day hunt

New Hampshire woman allegedly helped abduct and rob male victim before forcing him to strip naked and tying him to a tree.

If there’s kudos among crime duos in being the last to evade capture, a New Hampshire woman has secured it at the expense of her less elusive male compadre – though only just.

Ariel Dupuis was busted late Sunday after a two-day police hunt over the alleged knifepoint kidnapping of a man who was left naked, bound and tied to a tree.

The 29-year-old’s arrest follows accusations that she helped Ronald Betances, 37, abduct the male victim at knifepoint from a residence in Manchester on Friday and force him into a car, police said.

The duo allegedly stole the unidentified victim’s wallet and cellphone and drove him to “several locations” before ending up in the town of Derry, 11 miles southeast of Manchester.

There, they allegedly forced the victim to strip naked, bound his wrists and feet and assaulted him, before leaving him tied to a tree, according to the police statement.

The man eventually managed to free himself and alert police.

The slightly less slippery Betances was already arrested Saturday on kidnapping and robbery charges, as well as violation of bail for a previous crime. He appeared in court Monday.

Dupuis was charged with criminal liability to both kidnapping and robbery. She was released on $2,500 bail and is due in court on July 30.

“The suspects and victim were known to each other, and this was not a random act,” police said, as the investigation continues.

Dupuis is no stranger to law enforcement, having been a suspect in a shooting inside a Londonderry hotel in January 2016 that led to a 24-hour manhunt, according to Patch.

At that time, she had an active warrant on a heroin possession charge, and has since been arrested for further drugs possession charges and numerous driving offences.
