Maine maniac allegedly entered fast-food joint brandishing power saw, then walked behind counter revving it up in front of terrified staff before helping himself to refreshments.
Alice Sweet (Westbrook Police Department)
A McDonald’s in Maine turned into the set of a 1970s slasher film on Tuesday when a would-be customer chose to show staff how much he was “lovin’ it” by chasing them with a chainsaw.
Alice Sweet entered the fast-food joint in Portland around 3:30 p.m. with power saw in hand, prompting several horrified bystanders to dial 911, the Westbrook Police Department said in a Facebook post.
The misleadingly named 26-year-old then wandered behind the counter and started revving the chainsaw threateningly at employees preparing food.
As workers fled in terror, Sweet was able to pilfer some food and drink before heading for the exit.
The restaurant’s intrepid manager followed the madman outside and attempted to confront him in the parking lot, only for Sweet to begin pursuing him with the motorized tool-turned-weapon.
The Portland loon also damaged two parked cars with the saw during the incident, police said.
Sweet tried to run from responding officers, but was quickly caught and arrested without further incident outside a nearby hotel.
He was charged with robbery, criminal mischief, refusing to submit to arrest, and violation of conditions of release.
