Man trying to rob weed store slams car into wrong shop

Oklahoma suspect John Lytle arrested after mistakenly crashing into business next door during alleged ram-raid.

Some burglaries are so bungled one is led to imagine that the poorly motivated robber had enough of the targeted loot already.

Certainly, one suspects that an Oklahoma City man who made a serious miscalculation last week while trying to rob a marijuana store may have already enjoyed a reefer or two before enacting his plan.

John Lytle somehow managed to slam his car into a shoe repair business Wednesday night, only to later admit he’d meant to ram and rob the marijuana store next door, according to police.

The 25-year-old was arrested at the scene after investigators say he intentionally drove into Herrera Leatherworx in northwest Oklahoma City, local NBC affiliate KFOR reported.

Lytle then allegedly told cops he was targeting the weed store next door, but missed and instead smashed into the shoe repair business.

“He made some statements to officers after the fact that he had intended to burglarize the neighboring business, which is a smoke shop,” Oklahoma City Police Lt. Isaac Goodman told the news outlet.

Lytle used his car like a battering ram, reversing at full speed and crashing through the glass storefront, according to police.

No one was inside the store at the time, and Lytle was uninjured.

He was booked into the Oklahoma County Jail on charges of second-degree burglary and two counts of malicious injury to property, arrest records show.
