Matchmaking company sued over providing “gentlemen” with flip flops and no shirt on dates

Florida dating service receives over 100 complaints from disgruntled customers who failed to find their special someone.

Money can’t buy you love, as the Beatles sang.

But one woman who gave thousands of dollars to a Florida matchmaking service at least expected to meet a man with appropriate footwear, a clothed torso and basic personal hygiene. And preferably all three at the same time.

Alas, even those low standards were beyond the suitors sent into action by dating company “It’s Just lunch”, according to a new lawsuit.

Sherri Ferrara, 57, alleges that she paid thousands of dollars to the company only to be set up with a succession of deadbeats.

Her first date, Al, didn’t even show up, an experience Ferrara described as “humiliating”.

“I am extremely mortified and embarrassed. I cannot believe this is the type of service that you would provide, let alone charge for. You said you vetted potential matches and this is the type of gentleman you ‘matched’ me up with? I drove 45 minutes and sat in a restaurant, by myself, for 40 minutes. l have NEVER, EVER been stood up before in my life,” Ferrara wrote in an email to her matchmaker.

The second cab of the rank was a gentleman by the name of Chuck. Unfortunately, he wasn’t exactly Prince Charming either.

According to Ferrara, he arrived wearing old shorts and flip-flops and cursed throughout the meal.

A third man appeared to be a fraud, which Ferrara says she discovered doing her own research. Now she’s suing the company to try and get back the $2,800 she spent on membership.

Ferrara is not the only client who has been disappointed by the dating service, which has 10 Florida offices.

The Miramar office for It’s Just Lunch International has an ‘F’ rating with the Better Business Bureau. In the past year, it closed out 41 complaints against the company — with 106 complaints over three years.

One complaint said her match had nothing in common with her despite what the company said.

“He lacked etiquette, dinner etiquette, and he took off his shirt as he walked me to the car,” they wrote.

It’s Just Lunch could not be reached for comment.
