Mom accused of shooting her two daughters dead

Pennsylvania woman is being held without bond after the gruesome slayings of the two young women.

A community in Pennsylvania is today trying to make sense of the shocking murder of two victims, allegedly by their own mother.

A woman in the town of Ambridge in Western Pennsylvania has been charged with shooting her two daughters in the head, police said.

Krisinda Bright, 48, was arrested Monday afternoon after officers responded to a 911 call about a shooting. Interim Police Chief John DeLuca told reporters at a press conference that officers then found Bright’s two daughters dead inside, in a “gruesome scene,” WTAE reported.

Beaver County District Attorney David Lozier confirmed to the station that Bright has been charged with two counts of criminal homicide. She was being held early Tuesday at the Beaver County Jail without bond, the station reported.

The two victims have been identified as 16-year-old Kiara Bright and 22-year-old Jasmine Cannady, both of Ambridge. They were killed by gunshots to the head, authorities said.

Lozier confirmed on Monday that police investigators are not looking for any other suspects in the double slaying apart from the victims’ own mother. So far, cops have not provided any motive for the horrific crime.

According to local station KDKA, Bright was standing outside the home when police arrived at the scene. She had earlier called officers to the residence.

The younger of the two victims, 16-year-old Kiara Bright was a student at Ambrose High School, district officials confirmed in a statement.

“This loss is sure to raise many emotions, concerns and questions for our entire school, especially our students,” the Ambridge Area School District statement read. The district added that counselors would be made available to students in need. “We are saddened by the loss to our school community and will make every effort to help you and your child.”

KDKA spoke with one witness who rode by on his bike earlier and said he spotted a woman on the porch of a home being handcuffed by police. Another witness says she was walking her son’s friend home from a sleepover while all of this unfolded.

“I said, ‘Is it safe for us to walk him home?’ and they said, ‘We have to escort you.’ And I said, ‘That’s fine, but is it safe, what happened, did something bad happen?’ He said, ‘We can’t tell you,’” said Rachel Kruze.

Crazy America was unable to reach an attorney for Krisinda Bright and none had been named by authorities by Tuesday morning.
