New Jersey Spa Owner Soon Bang Busted for Running a Not-So-Relaxing Business

Cops raided Oasis Spa and found more than just massage oil—leading to charges against its 63-year-old owner.

Cops raided Oasis Spa and found more than just massage oil—leading to charges against its 63-year-old owner.

In a case that practically writes its own punchlines, Soon Bang, the 63-year-old owner of Oasis Spa in Denville, New Jersey, has been charged with running a prostitution business from her massage parlor, according to investigators.

Authorities raided the spa last week and uncovered what can only be described as a highly suspicious interior design choice: a “large quantity of condoms…hidden within a mattress” in a “back makeshift bedroom,” according to a probable cause affidavit obtained by The Smoking Gun. Detective D. Large (yes, really) also noted that another condom was found “hidden in a plant” in one of the massage rooms, which raises some serious questions about the spa’s approach to both landscaping and hygiene.

The raid was the result of an ongoing investigation into reports that workers at the establishment were engaging in prostitution. When questioned by police, a 67-year-old employee reportedly admitted to performing sexual acts with clients in exchange for cash.

Meanwhile, a search of Bang’s home turned up a significant stash of U.S. currency hidden in her bedroom—along with more of the exact same condoms found at the spa, suggesting a strong commitment to brand consistency.

During her interview with police, Bang reportedly claimed she doesn’t check employee identification and acknowledged that the Oasis Spa had racked up a number of online reviews detailing its more “specialized” services.

Bang now faces charges of promoting prostitution, money laundering, and engaging in prostitution. She is due in court on March 5.

State records show Oasis Spa House Inc. was originally formed in May 2022 by Dongmei Wang, with Bang taking over as president later that year. Whether or not she saw this kind of publicity coming is unclear—but one thing’s for sure: the spa’s days of “customer satisfaction” may be coming to an abrupt end.
