Police hunt for clues in mysterious murder of Florida teen

Ryan Rogers was found dead near his Palm Beach Gardens home a day after vanishing on a bike ride.

It was what every parent fears most: a 14-year-old boy robbed of his future after heading out on a seemingly innocuous bike ride.

Yet two weeks after Ryan Rogers was found dead just three minutes away from his Florida home police are still searching for a suspect in the mysterious killing.

Rogers was reported missing in Palm Beach Gardens on November 15 when he failed to return from an early evening bike ride.

The teen’s body would be discovered the very next day on the city’s Central Boulevard, near the Interstate 95 overpass, according to the Palm Beach Post.

Some four days later, local police sent shockwaves through the quiet coastal community as they announced they were treating Rogers’ death as a homicide.

But the mystery only deepened as authorities declined to reveal his cause of death, only ruling out the possibility that he had been fatally struck by a car.

A police press release from November 24 called the teen’s tragic demise a “deliberate act” and urged any witnesses to come forward.

That call for help was renewed Monday as the Palm Beach Gardens Police Department cryptically said  “the investigation is progressing forward.”

In a GoFundMe page set up for Rogers’ family, his mother described the loss of her son as “unimaginable.”

“I never thought I would ever not see him play soccer again, or spend vacation with him or see him walk through the door or send him off to school every morning,” Cynthia Rogers wrote.

“His smile, his laugh and his heart is what I remember the most. I was blessed to have him as my son. He was pretty easy as far teenagers go. Just a good kid.”
