A disgusting Starbucks barista has been busted for spitting in the drinks he made for cops.
A 21-year-old employee of the ubiquitous coffee chain in New Jersey has admitted adding the revolting personal ingredient to the beverages he brewed for police officers.
The worker, named as Kevin A. Trejo, was based at a Starbucks in the town of Park Ridge. Police said he brought about his own downfall by boasting of what he was doing.
Trejo was “arrogant enough to be bragging about it,” which is what led police to question him, Park Ridge Chief Joseph Madden told NJ.com.
The officer said that the barista’s unusual drinks-making method was “very disturbing”. Police on Monday charged Trejo, of Westwood, with subjecting a law enforcement officer to contact with a bodily fluid, and tampering with a cup of coffee knowing it was ordered by an officer and creating a hazardous condition.
Police said that Starbucks cooperated with the investigation and arrest, and that the incident didn’t involve other workers at the outlet.
Unsurprisingly, local police union officials condemned Trejo’s nauseating conduct.
“Every time I think we as society hit bottom, there is a new incident,” state Policemen Benevolent Association president Patrick Colligan said in a statement posted to Twitter. “Officers risk their lives daily, it shouldn’t be while getting coffee.”
Starbucks spokeswoman Sara Autio said that Trejo was fired.
“This individual’s behavior was reprehensible and not at all a reflection of how our employees treat our customers on a daily basis,” Autio said. “We want everyone who comes into our stores to receive a positive experience and when that doesn’t occur, we move quickly to address it and hold ourselves accountable.”
Disgusting!
