Three people were shot in Kansas on Saturday night after a man thought he’d found the people responsible for stealing several of his lawn signs showing his support for President Donald Trump.
The shooter told police that someone had recently removed the political yard signs from his property and he believed a group of people near his house was responsible, WIBW reported.
Officers responding to reports of gunshots arrived on the scene in North Topeka around 11 p.m. to find a person inside a crashed car who had been shot several times. The victim was taken to a local hospital with severe injuries.
Two other individuals connected with the dispute later showed up at local hospitals suffering from serious gunshot wounds, police said.
The shooter had been recently involved in an incident in which they were nearly run over, early reports showed.
The investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been made.
Police are also yet to release the names, ages, and genders of the wounded.
This latest violent spilling over of political tensions comes as Americans of a nervous disposition prepare for the widespread civil unrest some fear may attend the outcome of the presidential election.
