She minded that her soup was too hot – but now she’s the one in hot water.
A woman seen in a viral video throwing soup in a Texas restaurant manager’s face will be held to account for her shocking meltdown, police said.
The irate customer faces criminal charges after a clip of her tossing a cup of broth at a hapless employee in Temple spread like wildfire on social media.
The takeaway soup from a branch of the Mexican chain Sol De Jalisco became airborne at around 1:30 p.m. on Sunday after the woman complained it was so hot that it had melted the plastic lid of its container, according to Temple police.
The woman, who was not identified, first phoned the restaurant to voice her displeasure over the excessive temperature of the spicy menudo soup.
She then went there in person to confront the unfortunate victim, restaurant manager Jannelle Broland.
The viral footage caught on a security camera shows the woman holding the soup container at the counter while arguing with Broland.
The deranged customer then suddenly loses it completely, throwing the entire contents of the takeaway cup in Broland’s face before quickly leaving the restaurant with a man who had been standing next to her.
“My first thought was what just happened, why, like why is this happening and I realized I couldn’t open my eyes and I wiped away and I realized I was like wow, she, she really just she threw that at me,” Broland told local channel KCEN-TV.
Describing the experience afterwards in a TikTok video, the employee said that she luckily didn’t suffer any burns to her face as the soup was no longer that hot by the time it became a projectile.
However, Broland, who has worked in the restaurant industry for six years, likened the caustic sensation of having the spices from the Mexican soup in her eyes to getting pepper-sprayed.
The customer has been banned from the restaurant and police confirmed that charges are pending.
