Standing out from the boring commuter crowd can be a risky business.
A California woman appears to have set her own hair on fire while riding a Bay Area commuter train Tuesday.
A brief video of the crazy incident uploaded to TikTok begins on a BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) train as flames are already shooting from the woman’s head.
“Your hair is on fire!” one man shouts.
The woman, who is standing up with burning tresses, starts screaming and falls into her seat as another rider rushes to pat her head to put out the fire.
The blaze is quickly extinguished, but not before the train car fills with smoke.
“What the f**k, man!” another passenger quite rightly remarks.
The startling episode took place at the El Cerrito del Norte Station around 5 p.m. Tuesday evening, BART officials told the San Francisco Chronicle.
The woman in the video didn’t report the incident herself to the BART Police Department, according to the mass transit agency.
However, a station agent did call police to inform them of “a woman who apparently set her own hair on fire,” BART said.
“At this time BPD has not received any information indicating this was any sort of assault committed by another rider,” BART spokesperson Jim Allison told the newspaper.
“On behalf of BART, I certainly hope that she is okay.”
