Woman shoots another woman dead in broad daylight in posh NYC neighborhood

Police are now hunting for a female suspect with dreadlocks who is believed to have pulled the trigger in Brooklyn’s Park Slope.

Long known as a trendy neighborhood where young Manhattanites move to start a family, Park Slope was the scene of a shocking crime on Wednesday after a woman was shot dead.

Details were still emerging during the afternoon although it is believed that the attacker was also a woman.

The gunfire erupted just before 1 p.m. at St. Marks Place and 4th Avenue in Park Slope, police said.

“I heard one shot and knew it was from a gun,” local bodega cashier, Mohammed Ali, told the New York Post.

Ali told the newspaper that he ran outside after hearing the shot and saw, “a lady lying face-up on the sidewalk and above her eyes was a hole with blood coming out.”

Despite a surge of gun violence in grittier parts of New York City, shootings have been relatively rare in this well-to-do corner of Brooklyn.

“I’ve been working here for 12 years and I’ve never seen anything like this,” Ali told the Post. “It’s scary. If the bullet hadn’t hit her, I might have been the one hit.”

The woman, whose age was given as 52, was rushed to a Presbyterian hospital, where she died, police said.

Witnesses said the suspect is another woman with dreadlocks who was seen running away with a silver pistol, according to local station CBS New York.
