Avoiding that row your significant other wants to have right now may seem a route to a less fractious relationship.
But beware of verbally unvented anger leading to something far worse.
A Louisiana man has been left fighting for his life after his girlfriend shot him when he refused to get into an argument with her.
The woman fled the scene and is now on the run following the early morning shooting on Saturday in Shreveport.
Officers responding just after 7:30 a.m. to reports of a shooting found a 34-year-old man on the sidewalk suffering from a single gunshot wound to the body, the Shreveport Times reports.
The man, who has not been named, was taken for surgery to Ochsner LSU Hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.
Detectives have determined from collected evidence and witness interviews that the victim was shot by his girlfriend, 29-year-old Jenalisha Lawrence.
Lawrence allegedly shot her now estranged partner following an interaction in which he refused to argue with her.
She then fled the scene in a green Honda Accord which had primer on the left passenger’s side front door, according to witnesses.
A warrant has been issued charging Lawrence with one count of attempted second-degree murder and bond set at $150,000.00.
Investigators believe she probably fled to the Dallas, Texas area, where she is originally from.
