No matter how poor one’s own skills in a particular discipline, it’s always comforting to think others are even further away from mastery.
Certainly, a Maryland woman provided some end-of-year cheer of a certain kind by demonstrating to budding motorists across the land the importance of getting a handle on the basics.
The woman was taken for an unexpected ride Thursday at around 10:30 a.m. when she stepped on the wrong pedal while trying to park her SUV at a train station in Rockville.
The rudimentary slip sent the vehicle crashing through a chain-link fence and onto railroad tracks bordering the parking lot on Rockville Pike.
The catastrophic result was enough to tickle the Rockville City Police Department, which posted a photo on its Facebook page showing the car nearly perpendicular to the ground after careering over the edge of the lot.
Thankfully no one was injured, although the mishap could’ve had far more serious consequences.
“The Metro train was able to stop and there was no contact made between the train and vehicle,” police said in the post.
“2020 ain’t over yet!” social media user Michael Hines commented below the update.
Quite right. And at the very end we appear to have been gifted the image that sums it all up.
