Indiana man arrested after allegedly subjecting 62-year-old mother to prolonged severe beating.
If you forgot to send your poor old mom flowers on Sunday, don’t fret: you’re still a long way from being the rottenest egg in the filial basket.
That shameful title goes to a son in Indiana who allegedly marked the day of maternal celebration by treating his mom to a battering so brutal she landed up in hospital.
Jerry Archer, 45, was arrested Sunday evening after Indiana State Police responded to the Harrison County Hospital in Corydon to investigate a woman who had been badly beaten and had injuries all over her body.
The 62-year-old mother, who has not been named, told officers that Archer, her son, began attacking her on Saturday evening. The assault allegedly continued through the night and into the next morning.
During the harrowing incident, Archer allegedly ripped his mother’s hair out, held a gun to her head, put a knife to her throat, and threatened to kill her multiple times, according to the victim’s statement.
The woman told police she only managed to get away later on Sunday by persuading Archer to let her visit her own mother for Mother’s Day, the Dubois County Herald reports.
After finally being allowed to leave, she went straight to hospital to seek treatment for her injuries.
Archer was arrested without incident in Paoli, his town of residence, at around 10.45 p.m. Sunday.
He was booked into the Orange County Jail on charges of domestic battery causing serious injury, intimidation, criminal confinement, and strangulation.
Further charges are expected to be filed.
