It can be good to have a strong belief system. And a rich spiritual life can enhance your existence no end.
But you can take things too far.
A woman in Pennsylvania has been charged after she allegedly crashed her car deliberately to test her faith in God.
According to court documents, 31-year-old Nadejda Reilly drove her car into oncoming traffic to test the strength of her religious convictions. What is more, she showed no remorse for her actions, authorities allege.
The incident occurred on Jan. 7 on Route 93 near Weatherly, Pennsylvania, CBS and other outlets reported. Weatherly, in Carbon County, is located about 45 miles north of Allentown.
Reilly told investigators that she had been driving around for several hours waiting for a calling from God. Eventually, she said, she decided to take action into her own hands and drive into an oncoming vehicle.
“Reilly related God took care of her by not having her injured,” Trooper Bruce Balliet wrote in an arrest affidavit. “Reilly expressed no concerns or remorse for the victims. Reilly also stated she did not care if the other people were injured because God would have taken care of them.”
Reilly, from Drums, Pennsylvania, had her $50,000 bail revoked and was charged with aggravated assault. Two people who were in the vehicle that she collided with were injured. They were taken to a nearby hospital and their current condition is unclear. Reilly herself escaped completely unhurt.
Her lawyer, Andrew Theyken Bench, filed a notice with the court that Reilly plans to waive her formal arraignment in Carbon County court.
Prosecutor Seth Eric Miller could not be reached by Crazy America for comment.
