The mandating of face masks in many stores has given a whole host of refuseniks their 15 minutes of infamy in recent weeks, from New Jersey’s relatively benign pipe-wielding senior to Michigan’s psychotic grocery store stabber.
And yet a California woman may now have catapulted herself to the head of that barefaced motley crew after dreaming up a jaw-dropping way to express her annoyance at being told she had to wear a face covering.
The pissed-off woman, who has not been named, literally dropped her pants and urinated all over the floor of a Verizon store in Roseville, in a dispute about its mask-wearing rule.
In a 911 call, a police dispatch operator alerts an officer that three people “are refusing to leave, not wearing a mask … they’ve asked several times and she refuses,” according to CBS Sacramento.
“They’re calling back and advising that the female is pulling down her pants and is now urinating inside the business,” the operator adds three minutes later.
Responding officers arrested the woman after additionally finding several items stolen from a nearby Dick’s Sporting Goods store in her car.
Bystanders roundly condemned the shopper’s questionable store etiquette.
“That’s totally inappropriate. We’re not animals,” local resident Michelle Davidson told the outlet.
“I’m very disappointed that we as a society choose to have this unity and let the virus divide us,” she said of people refusing to wear face masks during the coronavirus pandemic.
Another resident, Kelly Berger, said: “I don’t really have much to say except that’s probably not the right way to react to it. Simply wear the mask or leave I guess.”
Verizon spokesperson Heidi Flato told CBS Sacramento that the company is requiring all customers to wear masks in their stores.
She added that the incident wasn’t simply about the mask policy but didn’t divulge further details.
