Our 5 craziest stories of 2020

In a year that was anything but normal, we look back at some of the moments which made our jaws really drop to the floor.

To say that 2020 has not been the year most of us were expecting is an understatement.

Yet even amongst the twists and turns of an unrelentingly loony 12 months some especially unhinged real-life stories have managed to stand out.

The Kens, Karens and Kyles of this world may have grabbed more headlines – but the cast of these true cautionary tales are the ones who’ve really stunned the usually unflappable team at Crazy America.

And so here, in reverse order, is our pick of the 5 craziest from this annus insanus.

5. Man “thanks” good Samaritan for overnight stay by assaulting him and peeing all over his room

Inviting someone you vaguely know to stay over because they’re drunk and can’t get home seems an eminently decent thing to do. But sadly for one warm-hearted Florida soul, the milk of human kindness led to an overflowing of another kind, when he awoke the next morning to find impromptu house guest Colin Geib decorating his place with the contents of his bladder. Now that’s just sheer ingratitude!

4. Half-naked man secretly guzzles cargo of speeding wine tanker

Driving in California can be thirsty work, though if you’re willing to think outside the box there’s always a solution at hand. Hats off then to the innovation of shirtless nutcase Gabriel Moreno, who somehow managed to hop on the back of a wine tanker and stealthily guzzle its contents as it sped along the highway! This one would be hard to believe if it hadn’t been caught on film.

3. Mother and son charged with incest after his wife catches them having sex

Cheryl Lavoie, 64, and her son Tony L. Lavoie, 43 were charged with incest after his wife allegedly caught them having sex.

The mere idea of having to live with the in-laws is enough to fill many with dread. So spare a thought for the poor Massachusetts wife who discovered to her horror that the unenviable domestic arrangements were working out a little too well for other members of the household.

2. Priest caught having threesome on church altar

The Rev. Travis Clark
(St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office)

Parishioners always said the Rev. Travis Clark was giving of his time. But it was still something of a shock when a passerby stumbled upon the hardworking Louisiana minister with his nose to the grindstone late one night. Thankfully all it took was a ritual and a few Kleenex for sanctity to be restored.

1. Man caught eating his own grandmother

Dwayne Wallick
(Richmond Police Department)

There’s no sugar-coating our first choice and the headline says it all. A cop unlucky enough to interrupt unorthodox California diner Dwayne Wallick said “it’s the worst thing I’ve ever seen.” And we at Crazy America just happen to agree.
